I can't stop looking at this picture of my son. He was heading off to the zoo in his "Jack Hanna" hat. Love him so much...his always-churning mind, his adventurous spirit, the way he laughs at his sister's toddler-antics, his determination, his never-give-up energy level even when he's crying because he's so tired...his love of all things animal and outdoors...the list is endless!

Stephen and Patti came to town to visit their new nephew, Asher, who was featured here yesterday. I had the privilege of spending an afternoon with them on a gorgeous Fall day...it really has been spectacular and warm here this season. Their son gave us a run for our money, as toddlers do (at least MINE does!), but we caught that elusive smile a time or two and their daughter couldn't be sweeter with her free spirit. It was fun to get to know you guys!

I had the pleasure of photographing Jennifer and Dan's wedding last September (and yes, I just realized I never posted those pictures here!). This August I got to do their maternity shots as well as capture their beautiful blended family. This was such a gorgeous evening down at the creek. We were blessed to spend Easter with these guys and their progeny. It was also their 15th anniversary so we did a little photo shoot to commemorate the occasion. We love them to pieces and are so grateful for their example as a married couple and as parents...my man shaved his head first though!

Just to remind myself that these months actually happened and my kiddos did a lot of growing and changing and experiencing and loving during those cold dark winter weeks...I am posting some of my own kids. Wispy hair peeking out of hats turned into real deal pony tails. Snow-covered mittens and icicled eyelashes have given way to sandy crocs and, as of today, catching crayfish in the creek. To everything, there is a season....

My cousin Kerri invited us out to their place for some sledding back in February. It was one of those bright sparkly winter days and the colorful snow gear on the kids made it even happier. We made some wonderful memories and I managed to snap a few photos between sled rides as well!

These little guys barely stopped moving the whole time...last year when we did this, Larry was only a month old so it was really fun to see who he and his brother have grown to be. This was my second photo shoot with these fine folks and it was truly so much fun! Val had a vision for some pictures of them in the hay loft of this old barn on her family's dairy farm and it was perfect... even if I did make them sit in pigeon you-know-what to get the shots we wanted! I know, I know...has it really been almost a month since I posted? Crazy thing is that I have loads of pictures I want to post! I just spent a week with all 5 of my nieces and nephews plus did a couple photo shoots so I guess what I'm saying is....look out! Here are a couple more I took of Baby Miriam during Cousin Camp 2008. Those lashes and lips and rosy cheeks...so precious! I took about 30 pictures of her feet so be glad I am only posting one here....I just couldn't get enough of them.

I finally got to meet my newest niece last weekend! She is almost 2 months old and precious. The dress she is wearing was made by her great-great-grandmother and is beautifully preserved. Since Miriam quickly grew annoyed by her aunt's photo shoot, I was able to focus on capturing the delicacy of such a treasured heirloom while her mother consoled her.

Grand Re-Opening

So this is me making the commitment to re-launch my photography business. I haven't done much professionally since Jack was born but he just turned two and I'm itching for a new endeavor. I did primarily wedding photography in the pre-Jack days but now I am setting out to focus on portraits...casual, on-location, natural light portraits. That being said, I'm shooting a wedding tonight. But my new passion is portraits and I've certainly had enough practice after two years and tens of thousands of pictures of Jack! We'll start with this photo blog and then upgrade to the website as soon as it's construction is complete.

Having just bought a new lens for this endeavor, my friend Anca let me practice on her newborn, sweet baby Luke. Just look at those infinite eyes!
